CentiPlain is an independent educational website about money. Our job is to explain saving, budgeting, debt, investing, crypto, side income and online business in plain English — to the young adults and beginners who usually get sold the complicated version.

What we are

We're a library of guides, calculators, glossary terms and explainers. Everything is free to read and free to use. Our tools run in your browser, we don't ask for personal data, and we don't build dark patterns that push you toward products.

What we are not

We are not financial advisors, and we are not selling anything. We don't promise returns, we don't claim guaranteed profits, and we don't pretend to know your circumstances. The practical rule that governs every page is this:

Where our money comes from

We are building this site to eventually earn money from display advertising (such as Google AdSense) and, later, carefully disclosed affiliate links. That means some pages may contain ads or links that could pay us a small commission if you use them. It never means a product gets a free pass: we don't publish sponsored recommendations, and we don't change an explanation to please a partner. If we ever do accept anything that could influence content, it will be disclosed in the open.

How to read our content

Start with the fundamentals — a budget, a savings rate, an emergency fund — and build from there. Each article links onward to a relevant calculator, and each calculator explains its formula and its limits. Where we reason from assumptions, we show the assumptions next to the result.

If a guide is confusing, a calculator produces something odd, or you think a topic deserves the plain-English treatment, we want to know. Contact us at a future address on this domain when it goes live, or raise an issue on the public repository behind this site.
